Caches

Online caches store your exported images at persistent URLs for use in external applications like Tabletop Simulator. Images can be regenerated and re-uploaded to the same URLs, maintaining references in external tools.

What Are Caches?

A cache is a collection of exported images hosted at permanent URLs. When you export to Tabletop Simulator, Component.Studio:

  • Generates image grids or individual card images
  • Uploads them to cloud storage
  • Creates persistent URLs that don't change
  • Saves the cache info for future reference
Persistent URLs

The key benefit of caches is that the URLs stay the same even when you regenerate the images. This means your Tabletop Simulator mod will always load the latest version of your cards.

Creating a Cache

1 Open the Export dialog

In the designer, click the Export button in the toolbar.

2 Enable Tabletop Simulator

Toggle on the Tabletop Simulator option in the export dialog.

3 Configure settings
  • Cache Name - Give your cache a descriptive name
  • Cache Type - Choose "Deck/Cards" or "Individual Images"
  • Grid Size (deck mode) - Cards across (X) and down (Y)
  • Max Image Size - Maximum width/height in pixels (default: 4096px)
4 Start Export

Click Start Export. The images will be generated and uploaded to the cache.

Cache Types

Type Description Best For
Deck/Cards Combines all cards into grid images (e.g., 10×7 grid). Generates separate grids for faces and backs. Standard playing cards, poker-sized cards, small rectangular components
Individual Images Exports each card as a separate image file at its original dimensions. Odd shapes, thick components, tokens, tiles, boards

Viewing Caches

To view your saved caches:

  1. Navigate to your game's Caches page from the game menu
  2. You'll see a list of all exported caches for this game
  3. Each cache shows:
    • Cache name
    • Type (Tabletop Simulator)
    • Last updated date
    • Number of files

Managing Cache Files

View Files

Click the View Files button on any cache to expand the file list. Each file shows:

  • Filename
  • Copy URL button - Copies the file's URL to clipboard
  • View link - Opens the image in a new tab

Copy URLs

Click the copy icon next to any file to copy its URL. Paste this URL into Tabletop Simulator's image URL field to load the image.

Delete Caches

Click the Delete button to permanently remove a cache and all its files. This action cannot be undone.

Regenerating Caches

To update a cache with new card data, simply export again with the same cache name. The files will be regenerated and re-uploaded to the same URLs, automatically updating your Tabletop Simulator mod.

Using Caches in Tabletop Simulator

After exporting to a cache:

  1. Open the cache in Component.Studio and copy the image URL(s)
  2. In Tabletop Simulator, create a custom deck or object
  3. Paste the URL into the Face Image and Back Image fields
  4. Configure the grid size (X and Y) to match your export settings
  5. Save your mod

When you regenerate the cache later, TTS will automatically load the updated images without changing the mod.
