Diagnostics

Component.Studio includes a diagnostic page to help troubleshoot connectivity and compatibility issues. If you're experiencing problems loading images, slow performance, or other technical issues, the diagnostics page can help identify the cause.

What Gets Tested

The diagnostics page runs several tests and collects information about your system:

Network & Location Information

The page detects your IP address, ISP (Internet Service Provider), organization, and geographic location. This information helps identify if connectivity issues are related to your ISP or region. It's especially useful for diagnosing ISP security features that may be blocking our servers.

Browser & System Information

Details about your browser, operating system, screen resolution, available memory, CPU cores, and connection type are collected. This helps determine if your system meets the requirements for running Component.Studio effectively.

Connectivity Tests

Test What It Checks
SSL/TLS Connection Verifies your browser can securely load images from our storage servers. A failure here usually indicates an ISP security feature, firewall, or antivirus blocking the connection.
CORS Tests Cross-Origin Resource Sharing to ensure your browser can fetch resources from our storage. Failures may indicate browser extensions or network proxies interfering.
Network Latency Measures response time to our servers. High latency (>500ms) may cause slow image loading.
WebSocket Support Confirms your browser supports WebSockets, required for real-time data synchronization.

Graphics & Performance Tests

Test What It Checks
WebGL Support Required for the design canvas. Shows your GPU renderer information.
Canvas 2D Required for image rendering and export functionality.
Available Memory Checks if sufficient memory is available for smooth operation.

ISP Security Features

Many Internet Service Providers include security features that can mistakenly block legitimate websites. Our image storage server uses a cloud-hosted subdomain that some ISP security filters flag as suspicious. If your SSL or CORS tests fail, the diagnostics page will detect your ISP and show specific instructions for resolving the issue.

Spectrum Security Shield

Spectrum's Security Shield is enabled by default and may block our image storage URLs.

  • Quick fix: Log into spectrum.net or the My Spectrum app, go to Services & Equipment → Security Shield, and toggle it OFF.
  • Alternative: Submit an unblock request at Spectrum's URL Verification page (takes 5-7 business days).

Note: Changing DNS settings (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8) will NOT bypass Security Shield.

Xfinity xFi Advanced Security

Xfinity's Advanced Security feature may block our servers.

  • Quick fix: Open the Xfinity app, tap Account icon → xFi Advanced Security → Disable.
  • Alternative: Request a re-assessment at spa.xfinity.com (takes about 3 business days).

Note: Xfinity does not offer a whitelist feature—you must disable or request re-assessment.

AT&T ActiveArmor

AT&T's ActiveArmor Internet Security may flag our storage URLs.

  • Quick fix: Open the AT&T Smart Home Manager app, go to Profiles → Advanced Content Controls → Web filters, and add an exception or disable ActiveArmor.

Note: The "Allow" button in threat notifications may not work reliably.

Verizon Home Network Protection

Verizon's Home Network Protection (powered by McAfee) may block our URLs.

  • To disable: Open the My Fios app → Internet → Home Network Protection → Toggle OFF.

Note: Verizon does not offer a whitelist option—disabling is the only workaround.

Sharing Diagnostic Results

After running the tests, click the Copy Results button to copy a complete diagnostic report to your clipboard. This report includes all test results, system information, and network details in both human-readable and JSON formats. When contacting support, paste this report to help us quickly understand your situation.

Quick test: If you suspect an ISP issue, try connecting through a mobile hotspot. If images load correctly on mobile data but not on your home internet, your ISP's security feature is almost certainly the cause.

Common Issues & Solutions

Symptom Likely Cause Solution
Images won't load ISP security feature Disable ISP security shield (see above)
Images load on mobile but not desktop ISP or router blocking Check ISP security settings or router firewall
Intermittent image failures Antivirus SSL scanning Disable SSL/HTTPS scanning in antivirus settings
Very slow image loading High latency or throttling Check latency test results; contact ISP if >500ms
Canvas not rendering WebGL disabled or unsupported Update graphics drivers; enable hardware acceleration
